The 2017 Speedway season started off with a bang for James. In his first home meeting for the Pirates he scored 9+3 from 4 rides (a paid max.!) as they beat Wolverhampton 98-82 to win and retain the Elite Shield. James part of three 5-1's with team mate Nicolai Klindt and even secured his first race win in his last race.
It has been a big step up from the National League and at times James has struggled. After a mid-season dip, James managed to get back to form scoring his average, and some, and helped with vital points to keep Poole in the race for the Play-Off places.
Unfortunately, James missed the Pirates last league meeting against Somerset (due to the final round of the World Long Track Series) where in the very last race, the Pirates managed to secure a Play-Off Semi-Final spot.
Play-Offs: James put everything he had in the Play-Off Semi-Final. he scored 5 points in the first left at Poole and 3 in the second leg at Swindon. Despite making life difficult for the Robins, it just wasn't meant to be and Poole bowed out of the competition.

James would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of this sponsors - without their help this year wouldn't have been as good as it was!
He would also like to thank the fans for all of their continued support - even through the struggles.
